Women confidence in modern days, and what we can do now to improve it

The #MeToo movement has brought up the question of how much women in modern society have really advanced in the eyes of society.

The idea to write on this topic came to me after watching “The Best Man Can Be Gillette” video.

Are women more confident these days than, say, in the 1900s?

How has the woman’s image really advanced in the eyes of society?

What about men’s education? Who is really in charge of it? Can women take some responsibility in the education of men?

The #MeToo movement has brought up the question of how much women in modern society have really advanced in the eyes of society. At least, it did for me.

Today, as women, we’re still responsible for the many household chores, kids’ education, grocery lists, grocery shopping, cooking, laundry, ironing, giving the kids a bath, being a spouse, in addition to being entrepreneurs or an employee.

Have you ever wondered if your great-great-grandma could handle all of this extra work that modern women now have? I know my grandma wouldn’t.

Compared to my grandma living in a village in Africa, the modern woman has no time for herself and is expected to do too much – even as a working mom. For instance, Grandma did not have kitchen floors that get dirty almost every day, windows, and a full load of laundry to clean. However, she was a vegetables “farmer”, who woke up at dawn to work a field she rented—until the sun came up. Then she enjoyed her breakfast and went home. In the evening she went to the marketplace to sell her greens and vegetable roots.

Do we as women living in the modern world realize that the task at hand is “Mission Impossible”? If we can realize that, then the world may become a better place for the younger generation of women.

As we realize this, the men around us will have a different image of the women in their lives.

My mom never distinguished between my older sisters, my brother, and me when it came to housekeeping. My brother knew how to cook everything I did, as well as cleaning. In fact, Mom was able to go on a few weeks’ vacation with my sister—leaving us kids with my dad and my brother. My brother was in high school, and he handled it beautifully without getting much help from Dad.

So, even though my dad championed women as intellectuals, he was not the type to help around the house. My brother grew up with a different mentality about women–a woman’s image in the household of being an equal.

As moms, can we fairly educate our children, regardless of their gender, so that other women may benefit?

Women’s image in modern society has advanced a great deal in many areas. However, the one and most important place it has not changed much is still the “Household”.

Her image in the household, witnessed by her children, may be the missing piece to the “lack of respect” that the women of the #MeToo movement have endured.

My lifestyle expert advice is for women to take positive steps in the right direction and do what’s best for them. Remember, confidence and self-esteem are every woman’s strengths for getting through life’s daily challenges. As a style expert in Parisian style, I’d love to see more women take a positive step into bettering their self-image inside and out. And this I think is the fundamental stepping stone to luxury living done right.
