Parisian Home Décor

Parisian home décor adds glamour and class to your home. It’s also minimalist and worth the investment. So, there’s nothing flashy or overdone about the interiors.

Parisians also love to decorate with paintings and photos. They often prop them up against walls. Or on sideboards, fireplace mantels, and dressers. You, too, can achieve this effect.

Renowned French artist Poupine Thomas has exactly what you need. She has a wonderful collection of photos. They’re esthetic and thought-provoking and will enhance the color and mood of any room.  Poupine has been honing her craft since she was a kid. She’s lived in many different countries of the world. Today her home is in France’s Southern Alps. Her photos reflect the elements and mood of these different spaces. So, they’re in keeping with how to decorate Parisian style.

Parisian home style, or French home decor style

So, how do Parisians manage to produce such elegant interiors? The answer is simple: They don’t like clutter. Here we show you how to decorate Parisian style.

Parisian home décor is about building around a few basics. However, there are no hard and fast rules. Parisians like to mix and match. They combine different eras, styles, materials, colors, and textures. But they have so much fun doing it!

They not only favor to decorate their entryway but also corridors, in addition to other parts of their house. You’ll usually find mirrors in the entryway, as well as the living room. The mirror may be built into the wall above the marble fireplace. The fireplace is also a feature of Paris home décor. But the mirror doesn’t have to be fitted into the wall. It may simply be propped up against it. And it’s no ordinary mirror. It’s typically gold-framed. That’s how to decorate Parisian style.

Mirrors make any living area grander than it seems! The French make the most out of small living spaces and know how to luxuriate larger living spaces.

The brown parquet wooden floors are favored by many Parisians. They come in a warm chevron or herringbone pattern. Many French leave them bare. They’re attractive without adornments.

Ceilings have medallions attached. These provide support for the hanging crystal chandeliers. Each crystal radiates its own glow. The effect is breathtaking!

French doors are another feature worth noting. They don’t just lead you outside. They’re also found within, separating the different rooms.

In Paris home décor, the walls are typically white. The white allows for natural light. So do the tall windows. The French usually have a few high-quality furniture pieces, as well as antiques. These are usually in jewel color tones. Thus they contrast magnificently with the walls and parquet floors.

Scented candles and potpourri are another feature of French apartments. They’re often found in strategic places around the home, and they give off the most sensational fragrances.

However, I haven’t seen many French that decorate their bathroom or shower. Soaps, serviettes de bain (French for towels), skincare, parfum, magazines and makeup do the talking.

A common feature of Paris home décor are the paintings and pictures. They add elegance without suffocating the space. I have curated a few pictures from French artist Poupine. She’ll let us know what inspired her to take these pictures. Also, you’ll learn where they fit in your Parisian home décor.

Sans Attendre (without any further delay), let’s find out!

This picture, even though it could suit a French country home décor, has more surprises in store. Imagine a blue-themed living room with this picture! You’ll be the talk of the gathering and such a cool conversation starter.

Moreover, a living room with brown leather couches will be complemented by this photo.

Poupine, what inspired you to take this picture of an old vintage truck filled with old wine barrels?

Poupine: Well, luck is always around for me for fun photos when I cruise any country, and I couldn’t resist this typical scene of French country living.

Who doesn’t like monarch butterflies?

This is another Paris living room décor show stopper! Poupine is great at explaining how you can frame this beauty tastefully. She certainly did for my Poupine’s art, and they turned out amazing!

Poupine, could you tell us how you came across this scenery with the beautiful monarch mating on a tree branch?

Poupine: Actually every year they congregate to mate in different California coastal neighborhoods, and the event is truly spectacular.

This picture evokes tranquility, rêvasser (French for daydreaming). This could suit a chic living room and elevate a casual living room.

Yachts remind us of luxury, and in this picture you can own a little part of France that seems very private.

If you watched the first movie of the saga The Transporter – 2002, then you understand just how French this picture is. In the movie, Frank Martin (Jason Statham) lives in a small but quaint town in the south of France.

Poupine, please could you share with us, what were you doing in this little paradise in Calanque de Niolon near Marseille?

Poupine: I was helping out some English friends in difficulties with their house that was broken into there, and visiting the area as well.

Getting a perfect mirror reflection is random, especially when you travel around, and so spectacular when you catch it.

Poupine, how challenging was it to take such an amazing picture?

Poupine: Well, it’s all about timing, and it seems that the gods are always smiling on me…

The French love to ski, and this picture of the highest mountaintop is great for the office, and a plus with this soft dusk light.

Did I mention the blue sky? Blue is always a great idea for the office.

So serene with the very still water. Great if your mind is often preoccupied and you need something else to focus on and bring you back to balance. For a moment, you can imagine swimming in the water or visualize the castle full of people in the summer.

Poupine, were you visiting this castle alone, or were there other people with you?

Poupine: I visited it several times with friends, family, and alone as it is a landmark in France, being a woman’s castle (Château des Dames), and I love that fact.

Poupine, tell us a bit more about this picture of a path in white blooming trees.

Poupine: This was in Washington, D.C. in the spring, and as we all know, it is the cherry blossom trees’ glory time.
