What to Wear in Paris, France
Paris, the city of love and a popular tourist attraction for many is a destination renowned and called out rightly. Visitors and locals make special efforts to appear their absolute best. Parisian fashion and influence have its own charm-an exhilarating sight if I must say so myself. And that’s exactly where I’d like to help you as a personal stylist, and lifestyle expert. Further, your style guide for one of France’s most popular destination: Paris.
The months of April, May, February, and March are usually popular times of year. Consequently, these are where most people feel confused regarding what to wear in Paris. Most of it is probably related to a change in season and hence a change in trends. So let’s get right into it!
April
Average temperatures in April for Paris tend to range between 6 and 16 degrees centigrade or 42 to 61 degrees Fahrenheit.
Since temperatures seem to be increasing during this time of year, spring fashion trends rule. It’s smart to wear Parisian staples that keep you feeling light, fresh and breezy all day long. However, you’ll need to carry a coat around. I’ll suggest a light coat made of wool. Likewise for shoes, it will be wise to wear close toe shoes only. Also, Peep toe shoes paired with pantyhose are acceptable.
The Parisian rule is to flaunt neutral hues to your heart desires with some bright spring color to celebrate the beginning of spring. In addition, my clients stick to the ‘no more than 3 color’ rule after working with me. My prescription for you is to stick to no more than 2 color rule as a beginner. Next thing to remember is that the gorgeous weather calls for long sleeve t-shirts draped with over the shoulder jackets.
Moreover, feminine and not too over the top apparel options can make you appear far better than the rest during this weather. What’s more, animal prints via tailor-fitted pants can do wonders when paired with a chiffon top and heels or flats. Finally remember to bring your panty hoses or buy French ones once you’re there.
All in all, be ready to take off your coat at a moment notice, put on your chic sun glasses, and enjoy the terrace restaurant.
May
Average temperatures in May for Paris tend to range between 13 and 20 degrees centigrade or 55 to 67 degrees Fahrenheit. The month of May marks the coming end of the springtime. As a personal stylist and lifestyle expert, I believe midi-skirts with fitted blouses and heels, cardigan made in polyesters for that extra warmth as the weather tend to be still a bit picky. Printed dresses in polyester, coupled with silk or cashmere bolero are also a wonderful springtime staple in Paris. Likewise, tailored jackets, blazers with your favorite jeans or denim can do justice to your body during this time of year.
Although the weather may seem nice, the wind may change everything. Therefore, I’ll suggest a light wool coat that you can carry around, and your favorite hosiery.
February
Average temperatures in February for Paris tend to range between -4 and 7 degrees centigrade or 24 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit. February is a blissful time to enjoy in Paris because of the gorgeous window shopping celebrating Valentine’s Day. Be ready to enjoy “Le chocolat chaud” or hot chocolate and delicious “Crêpes” to celebrate chilly weather.
Colorful coats or, in fact, any vibrant form of outerwear is always a fashion forward decision for Paris in February. Likewise, I’ll suggest a red color hooded coat in wool alpaca. Tights are a must with wool dresses. Also, bold prints like Plaid, checks, and stripes in wool or silk can also be pulled off effortlessly chic. In addition, a touch of faux or real fur accents here, and there is also a great style for Paris winters. Additionally, Pair the look with a wool hat, or a French beret paired with high knee boots for a polished Parisian appeal.
March
Average temperatures in March for Paris tend to range between 5 to 12 degrees centigrade or 41 to 54 degrees Fahrenheit. March marks the transition period of the winter season into springtime. The weather is a bit pleasant and a fabulous time to flaunt Parisian style to absolute glory. Maintain that comfortable demeanor with class, edge, and femininity. Because you can take off that coat at will. Even though you still need to wear it open on certain day and closed on others. Further, bring a trench for the beautiful days. Over and above, bring your booties and a few panty hose.
Dressy tops with tailored slacks in wool or silk, embellished with jeweled statement pieces and accessories is always a good idea — if you don’t want to carry a coat around. Jumpsuits with standout accessories are great for a dinner out. While monochrome outfits can do justice during the day time. More than that, a below the knee black dresses with silver, gold or, rose gold accessories are another style worth experimenting with during this time of year in Paris.
