Simplistic lace designs wrapped around the delicate female necklines, called chokers, are the most sexy French accessory a woman can wear. They have been around since the beginning of time―from being used in the Pharaonic era as a protection accessory for the delicate part of the neck. In addition to the French Revolution, when noble French women started wearing lace ribbons in 1750. Later, during the year 1789, noble French women wore red ribbons around their neck when they had lost a member of their family to the guillotine – during organized soirees to show solidarity with the deceased.

Since then, chokers have evolved with time, starting from just simple ribbons to lace and velvet chokers. Likewise, now chokers are even made from precious gems and stones like diamonds and pearls so they can be donned by people from the elite class. Even though chokers have been seen as a fashion trend, the truth is, they are more about expressing yourself. They are like a style statement in my opinion. Furthermore, they are that one ornament, an accessory that anyone can use to their liking. Chokers are classics.  Also, they should be worn to portray a style icon.

French women wear them with wide necklines.

With narrow necklines

Sometimes they adorn their beautiful narrow necklines with broad velvet chokers to show off their bold and confident side with pant suits.

Worn in layered layouts

While other times they are worn in layered layouts, mixing up different precious gems and metals.

Designers who make fancy chokers

Annelise Michelson, Charlotte Chesnais, Louise Damas are just a few designers who make fancy chokers, while brands like Dior and YSL are worldwide sellers of fancy and classy chokers.

I would advise you to wear chokers with designs that bring out the oomph factor in your personality. Chokers are like classic jewels that should be worn with respect, and not be messed with by altering their essential designs. They are pieces that should, if anything, bring out the ladylike grace in all women. So wear them with responsibility.

French women are renowned for being sexy, and the Parisian style is the perfect example of this notion.

As an image consultant, I believe accessories can add that special touch above all others. They manage to emit a new sense of confidence and self-esteem upon the wearer.
